Opportunities in Africa

   A strategic conference to mobilize women to reach Ethiopia and the entire continent of Africa is being held August 11-17.  The event in Addis Ababa will equip women with tools and resources like our film, “Magdalena: Released From Shame,” to be catalysts for spreading the gospel, reaching other women and their families, and to help those who respond to be grounded in their new faith in Christ. The Ethiopian leadership invites prayer for:

• Safe travel for the 10,000 people expected to attend the conference, a number of whom are coming from across Africa.
• The logistics to house the large number of people attending and for the distribution of resource materials.
• The women who attend the conference to be revived and restored so they can fully focus on God.
• The women who attend the conference to become agents of change in their own churches.
• Church leaders to view their women as valuable and be willing to hear how their church can be used mightily by the Lord.

JESUS Film Mission Trips taking place during August

• A team is going to the Republic of Burundi in East Africa from July 31-August 13. The team will be conducting 16 mm showings of "JESUS" and doing personal evangelism. Pray that, as those from unreached groups attend the showings, many will respond.
• A team will be in London, England, from August 15-23. This team will be handing out New Testaments, DVDs of "JESUS" and other materials to Arab visitors on vacation to escape the heat of the Middle East. Ask God to give them a hunger for truth, as many are experiencing a spiritual void in their lives.
• From August 4-17, a team is traveling to Equatorial Guinea—a small, very poor nation on the coast of West Africa. Pray that as they use the "JESUS" film to share the gospel, God will cause these spiritual riches to help them identify their need for a Savior.
• Outreach will take place from August 21-September 3 in a closed country on the African continent. Pray that this team will find favor as they seek to help open the university, not only for English classes this trip, but also for the future. Pray for open hearts and divine connections with the students who attend English classes.

In addition, please include the following in your prayers:

• Pray for a strong response to the August postal mail appeal seeking underwriting for church-planting film teams and motorbikes needed in Africa and worldwide. A generous match is being offered. Pray the match can be fully met by late September.
• Pray for the mailing of a DVD documenting the work of the ministry in East Asia. Pray that the hearts of those who see the video report would be encouraged and rejoice in how God is working in drawing hearts to Himself. Pray also that many will be led to support the work in this part of the world and that the matching gift being offered can quickly be met.
• Pray for the development of funds through a broad appeal for “Mission 865” that will provide new translations of “JESUS” for the least reached people groups across the globe. Pray for many new financial partners to join this effort at all giving levels.
• Pray for the raising of funds for the second phase of our digital media platform launch. Also, please pray that commitments made toward the first phase will be received in their entirety by August 31st.
• Pray that as the ministry invites friends to attend the Colorado Springs October 11-14 briefing, God will draw those whom He has prepared not only to be ministered to, but also for further financial involvement.
• Pray for the August 1st launch of a new donation system for the ministry. Pray all systems and processes will work properly. Also, pray for the staff to quickly learn the aspects of the system that will enable them to perform their roles more effectively.
• Pray for the preparation of a September web-based seminar, in partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators, to introduce tax-wise and charitable planning opportunities to friends of the ministry.
