Gratitude For What You Have Done
THEY TREATED HIM AS THOUGH HE WAS GOD. The reverence "Chairman Mao" commanded was enormous. He engulfed his country with his image, with atheistic principles of communism. When Mao died in 1976, a huge vacuum for truth was created. God uses that vacuum, even 30 years later, to draw people to Himself.
This is why Chinese people are searching and responding in great numbers when they see "JESUS." Dwayne Hughes, a missionary with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention, is another effective partner with The JESUS Film Project. Dwayne tells the powerful story of Dossan, a Buddhist priest. Dwayne arranged for Dossan to see "JESUS." At first, because he was a priest, he did not respond.
Still searching, Dossan imprisoned himself in his room at the Buddhist monastery. There he chanted and read Buddhist scriptures daily. After a year he came out of seclusion, eyes hurting from the bright light...and still searching. Dwayne met with him in the town square and asked, "Dossan, you've seen the film, read His words...why don't you give your life to Christ?" He knelt there with Dwayne on the grass and prayed. After praying, the first words out of his mouth..."I have finally found peace."
Dwayne's daughter is also an evangelist. She befriended a young woman who was bitter and abrupt in her ways. She invited the woman to their home to watch "JESUS" with the Hughes family.  As she experienced Jesus beaten and crucified, the woman grabbed a pillow and went into a fetal position. Distressed, she begged the question, "Why are they beating Him? He is such a good man and helped so many people." Dwayne's wife explained, "He is doing that for you, to forgive your sins, so you can live with Him forever. Would you like to trust Jesus as your Savior?" Without hesitation, the woman answered, "I just did!"
Scenes like these are being repeated thousands of times each day throughout Asia, because of you! Christian workers, volunteers and house churches are receiving and showing VCDs of "JESUS" (a video disc format used in Asia), and audiocassettes--the very tools being sent throughout Asia through "The New Orient Express."
Even Christian owners of large businesses use these tools. They gather their employees together to show them "JESUS" and a church is planted! From the so-called "peasant class" to Asia's emerging "mega-rich," people are responding in great numbers. God is moving!
