 Winning the BATTLE FOR HEARTS in Southern Lebanon
A TEAM OF NATIONAL CHRISTIANS ARRIVED ON scene even before the Lebanese Army. They found the population in great distress and discouragement--"for it had all happened so suddenly." The people were baffled that they had come, asking, "How in the world did you get here? All the bridges and roads are out."
You sent them! Workers drove a four-wheel drive from Beirut, down bombed highways, around destroyed bridges, through ravines and rivers, at risk to themselves, to assess the needs of the people. A few days later they returned with a truckload of emergency supplies, distributing aid from two churches in a largely non-Christian area.
Without any "strings attached," these faithful partners gave the aid you sent to anyone in need. The leader of the group remarked how the people "were profoundly touched and amazed." They were astonished that Christians (whom they had been taught were to be shunned and hated) were so loving.
The next trip down they not only brought aid, but also, Injils (New Testaments) and DVDs of "JESUS." The people lined up at each table equally to receive aid and the gospel! Teams have even begun small Bible studies with the people who continue to marvel over the true nature of Christians.
Militias or other groups are allowing this aid to be distributed without hindrance. They are watching this love as well.  You can understand then why Lebanese Christians with whom we partner, and workers in surrounding areas, are requesting an IMMEDIATE SUPPLY of 75,000 video discs and tapes of "JESUS" in Arabic.
We asked the leader of this effort in Lebanon what he would say to you, and others who have prayed and given during and after the war. He wanted to tell you, "Thank you for giving us the opportunity so show love to these people who feel such hopelessness. When we give them the 'JESUS' film, when they see clearly that He cared for people in the way they have been shown care, their hearts are softened and they want to respond."
If you are one who has helped in this historic effort, thank you so much. $200,000 is still needed to provide all 75,000 video discs of "JESUS" and aid for Lebanon, with a smaller portion of aid, plus DVDs, for surrounding areas affected by the fighting.
