Lesotho Lightning

  • Africa

Deadly lightning strikes are common in Lesotho, with the number of yearly lightning strikes per square mile there among the highest in the world. Deaths by lightning often are attributed to witchcraft.

When Ntate Boomo and his team arrived in Makhobalo to show the "JESUS" film, they found the people mourning the deaths of three villagers due to a lightning strike. Ntate Boomo reported that the entire village was "so much afraid." After the team announced the "JESUS" film showing, almost every person in the village came to watch.

The team spent a week in this village showing the "JESUS" film and sharing the gospel. They told the people: "There is One who is greater than witchcraft-who is able to rescue you from lightning ... because of Him, we do not fear witchcraft. Those in witchcraft can do what they want, but they won't succeed."

Ntate Boomo wrote: "The people were surprised and one of them said, '... no one has said what you have said to those in witchcraft before. ... We really want to serve Him, if Jesus will rescue us from the witchcraft.'"

God worked powerfully among the villagers, and Ntate Boomo rejoiced: "So many gave their lives to the Lord and now Christians are coming together, praying and witnessing since we visited that village. When we went [back later} for follow-up ... 1,000 people attended the show, and 750 made decisions for Christ ...Thank you for helping the 'JESUS' film in Lesotho! Every day souls are coming to the Lord! May God richly bless you!"
