“How can we trust the Bible?”

“Why did Jesus have to die?”

Have you ever found yourself on the receiving end of questions like these, unsure how to respond? Someone’s offering you an opportunity to share your faith on a silver platter, and you just freeze up.

It’s probably not that you don’t know the answer. But at that moment, you’re not entirely sure how to reduce all that knowledge into a clear and concise explanation. That’s where media tools come in handy. Sometimes it’s incredibly helpful to have a short video you can share-or that can equip you with a thoughtful response.

God’s Rescue Plan

An excellent example of this kind of media is “God’s Rescue Plan.” The first in a series of videos targeting faith-based conversations. “God’s Rescue Plan” addresses questions like:

  • Is the world broken?
  • Why did Jesus die?
  • What is the gospel?

The power of short film

Many films tackling these kinds of questions are smart and informative, but they also tend to be on the longer side. The power of “God’s Rescue Plan” lies in its brevity. It cuts through all the filler to give you an easy-to-understand response, which sets a common ground for further discussion.

Someone might not be overly enthusiastic about watching a 30-minute video, but you could get them to invest in a couple of minutes. In fact, you can watch it with them and talk about it afterward. Like upcoming videos in this series, “God’s Rescue Plan” includes questions to help generate discussion:

  1. What do you think about the assertion that the world is broken? Do you agree?
  2. Do you agree that there is nothing we can do on our own to restore our own lives? What do you think it would be like to be completely restored?
  3. The film also says that God loves us. Is this how you normally think of God? How would your life be different if you knew that God loved you?
  4. According to the film, God, through Jesus, offers us the gift of restoration and eternal life. What would keep someone from accepting a gift like this?

Questions like these can really help people unpack the content and think about it critically. It’s one thing to tell someone that the world’s broken, but if you can help them affirm that truth with their own experience, it can solidify it.
