She Said Yes

When God sent the angel Gabriel to deliver the news that Mary would give birth to the Son of the Most High … she said, YES!

Mary's answer to God's call was life-altering, not only for her but also for the world.

Gabriel told Mary she was highly favored and that the Lord was with her. Even though Mary didn't have all the details and was greatly troubled, she responded with acceptance and said, "I am the Lord’s servant. May your word to me be fulfilled" (Luke 1:38, New International Version). She didn't say, "Hold on a minute, Lord, I need more information."

Mary's reply to God's call not only proves her obedience, but also demonstrates her trusting relationship with the Lord. We can learn from Mary's response that, in order to be willing to accept God's plan for our lives, we must know Him, believe in Him, seek Him and trust in Him. However, it's not enough to reflect on Mary's obedience and trust … we must imitate it.

Trust is the foundation of every relationship. Although God may not give you all the answers or details you need, He will always give you all the information you need to trust Him. He also gives you the Holy Spirit to help guide you and become all that you were created to be.

Think about how you answer God's call. What is your response? Are you obedient? Do you trust the Lord on faith, or do you need more information before you can say yes?
