Watch Desmonds Encouraging Story.

Desmond is a believer who uses the new Jesus Film Voke app to share Jesus Film media. See how God is working.

Today much of our world lives online.

Conversational evangelism has been around since the apostles and the first century church. In the Book of Acts, the Apostle Paul speaks to a group of women in Philippi and a businesswoman, Lydia, comes to faith. (Acts 16) Then in Acts 17 he addresses the Bereans, and people respond. A few verses later in Athensthe cosmopolitan capital of the then-known worldPaul shares the good news of Jesus and a response is evoked. Among others, a man named Dionysius and a woman named Damaris make decisions to follow Christ (Acts 17:32-34).

During the last generation, Dr. Bill Bright, founder of Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ) developed the Four Spiritual Laws booklet as a simple, transferable tool for a person to share the saving message of Christ with someone one-on-one. That tool is still widely used today, and may be be found under the name Knowing God Personally.

Today much of our world lives online. To reach them, tools are being developed to empower believers to do just what the Apostle Paul and Dr. Bright didequip people like you and me to reach others, even during this global pandemic.

One of these tools being developed is a web evangelism app called Voke. It is designed to evoke a response from users, utilizing a video series called Adventures. Voke provides a safe, digital space for exploring faith-based issues, asking questions and having spiritual conversations that can lead them to a potential decision for Christ.

United States: Night of Power Partner Story May 19

A Bengali guy moved here to Queens (NYC) last October, God had been working in his life for a while. He has a 20-year-old son and an ex-wife who became Christians about four years ago, but he wasnt having it until more recently when his son really pushed him to study more of the Bible.

He went to a local Catholic church to get answers but the older priest there wasnt very helpful for him, and then once the COVID-19 shutdown hit he couldnt even do that..

Two weeks ago, he saw our Dreams Facebook ad in Bengali and using [his religions] terms for Jesus it caught his attention. He sent a message and actually chose [the journey]. He said, I want to study the Bible with a follower of Jesus from our chat tree. So, we connected him quickly with a Bengali multiplier. [He] ended up talking with several of our connected Bengalis and received Christ and then got baptized Sunday in a small gathering in a backyard here. THANK YOU, TEAM! AND PRAISE GOD!

Southeast Asia: encouraging quotes from users of the Next Steps app

  • deep conversations happened online
  • reaching out to those we cannot meet face to face in a short period of time
  • 13-year-old male student is very eager to learn and was messaging me all throughout the second week of the campaign; we have ongoing weekly follow up now
  • was able to engage in online conversation with a young woman who is contemplating suicide; she received Christ with me the next day
  • When we followed up those who are interested, some want us to pray for them. Some need Bibles. Some want to go to church. We told them when the country opens again, we can [point them] to a church near them. Until now, we [still] have contact with them. These are from Buddhist background.
