The greatest gospel gap in the world is in 50 countries—they have barely any new, thriving churches. And nearly 75% of all the world’s 3.6 billion unreached people live in 12 of those 50 countries. These people have the least access to the gospel in their own language.
Engage in strategic, focused prayer for the 12 countries of the world that are least reached with the gospel without ever leaving home.
Every month in 2022 we’ll feature one of these countries, familiarize you with its culture, and share prayer requests addressing the country’s specific needs. We believe the light of Jesus can shine through!
All about Bangladesh
The majority of Bangladeshi people will be wearing their best and rising early to pray during the Muslim celebration of Eid al-Adha this month. Many commemorate Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son by sacrificing a lamb, which they share with their communities. Let’s pray they come to know Jesus, the lamb of God, and the final and all-sufficient sacrifice for our sin.
Bangladesh was formerly a part of India and then Pakistan, becoming an independent nation just over 50 years ago in 1971.
The delta plains of three large rivers and their tributaries cover 79% of the country. Much of the land areas are used for farming, with rice as the main crop.
The beach in Cox’s Bazar is 96 miles long—making it the longest natural unbroken sea beach in the world!
Bengali, the official language of Bangladesh, is used in most homes throughout the country and is the “mother tongue” of the majority of the population. Indigenous minority groups speak other tribal languages.
Bangladesh is the second largest textile and apparel exporter in the world, after China.

Many local and foreign aid agencies are helping to meet the needs of refugees in Bangladesh. Pray that Christian service organizations can come alongside them, spreading the message of God’s love and salvation available through Jesus to these displaced peoples.
