Pakistan

November 2022

The greatest gospel gap in the world is in 50 countries—they have barely any new, thriving churches. And nearly 75% of all the world’s 3.6 billion unreached people live in 12 of those 50 countries. These people have the least access to the gospel in their own language.

Engage in strategic, focused prayer for the 12 countries of the world that are least reached with the gospel without ever leaving home.

Every month in 2022 we’ll feature one of these countries, familiarize you with its culture, and share prayer requests addressing the country’s specific needs. We believe the light of Jesus can shine through!

All about Pakistan

From the shores of the Arabian sea to the heights of the Himalayas, with arid deserts and fertile farmland in between, the vast country and diverse people of Pakistan—which means “the land of the pure”—are our prayer focus this month. May countless Pakistanis discover that the blood of Jesus is the only way to be cleansed and may they know the abundant life that He offers.

The world’s second and third highest mountains, K2 and Tirich Mir, are both located in Pakastan.

Urdu is Pakistan’s official language, though only a small proportion of the population speak it as their mother tongue. Children learn Urdu in school along with their regional language.

Malala Yousafzai, the youngest Nobel Laureate, is Pakistani.

Pakistan is the world’s largest producer of hand-sewn soccer balls—known as footballs to most of the world. The official footballs of the last two FIFA World Cups were made in Pakistan.

The national drink of Pakistan is sugarcane juice, also called “roh.” The juice is sold by roadside vendors throughout the country.

Pray with us…

Over 33 million people were impacted by what has been called the worse disaster in a decade for Pakistan. Unprecedented monsoon rains and flooding last summer resulted in mass evacuations, homelessness and deaths. Recovery is a monumental task. Pray for God to work through humanitarian aid organizations to meet ongoing needs. Pray, too, that the church responds to the long-term needs among poor Christian communities and to bless suffering neighbors who follow the majority religion.

Pray for great cooperation and synergy between various groups of Christian workers who are focused on people groups that follow the majority religion. Ask that many will hear the gospel and respond to Christ.

Many people groups in Pakistan do not have access to the Bible in their heart language, or they are not able to read it. Some Christian groups are working together to distribute Bibles. They hope to also introduce digital resources that would help bring greater understanding of the written Word and address common questions. Pray for God’s wisdom to bring these ideas together to help new Bible-readers. Pray also for open doors for many to receive and understand God’s Word in their heart language.
