A lot of people out there, including me,
are constructing somebody they want to be.
Maybe from the parents expectations,
from friends or whatever.
Our society says this is being successful,
but it's not really you.
I'm Andreas I'm actually from Germany.
I remember my mother bought me
one of these kits for fighter airplane
and it really fascinated me.
The other thing was we had a slot car track,
and I always used to have the Porsche
and my brother had the Ferrari.
So we were racing, so in early days,
my heart started really to tick for Porsche
and for airplanes.
I was trained by the US Air Force,
I graduated at Randolph Air Force Base in Texas.
And I flew fighters basically for 20 years.
I had this full, rich, military aviator life.
And it was cool, and I loved it.
Basically I thought, what am I gonna do next?
And guess what? That little dream,
it was still in my heart yeah,
so I thought how cool would it be
to work for Porsche?
So I set off to study, and one day they asked me,
when I applied, why are you here?
Why are you really here?
And then I took out the slot car I had,
I still had it and I put it on the table.
And they really liked that.
And it was about motivation and enthusiasm.
So those dreams I had as a kid,
I put all my power and energy into it,
being that kind of person.
The interesting thing is after reaching all of that
and I had these dreams fulfilled,
I realized it was great to fly in those fighters
and to drive the sports cars.
But you know, getting a sports car like that,
it was nice for four weeks,
and then it was a car.
Right between when I moved from the Air Force
to Porsche company, I met Jesus.
It was, really had a big impact for me
it was very profound and I started to pray
and live a life of faith.
It is so much richer.
It nourishes my soul so much more,
and there is a lot of joy that came into my life.
And that joy lasts forever,
it's not getting boring after three months.
I realized that Andreas is made for something specific.
And this is basically something
I was allowed to find out.
I was a person who constructed something,
somebody I want to be.
And I got that, but then to realize at the end,
if I asked Jesus who do you want me to be,
who am I, what did you make me for?
Then you receive an identity that is so much richer,
gives so much more beauty to your life
than if you just construct
somebody and you try to be that somebody.
