Why I Made Altro Mare

(soft music) Poi gli di La Parca con la bunda in là. - My name is Josue Petrone and I am the director and producer of "Alto Marre". I think the main challenge in filming this short film has probably been filming on boats. We realized the challenge of having the boats moving around because of waves and that was hard, especially when we had to film the boats from afar. Se noi siamo paraleli, La Parca due, idealmente, sta messa così. My favorite moment of this film experience has been definitely the moments that we had lunch. Having lunch on a boat with people that you love and enjoying the nature and doing what you love the most has been a memorable experience that I will never forget. I think the main theme of the movie is definitely about sacrificial love. When love comes unconditionally, that changes everything. I remember for me, God has been always this judge figure that cannot wait to tell you how wrong you are. And I never wanted to deal with that. I never liked God with that image because I always felt like I needed to do something in order to get closer or to get better. And it was like all this work, work and do things and I felt that God actually is gonna be happy about you. And I think I never seen that side of God that actually loves you unconditionally. And then I remember I watched the Passion of Christ, the movie, and that's when I realized if he went this far for me, I really need to consider his love for me. My hope is that people through this short film will reflect on what does it mean to love unconditionally, but more than that, I think what does it mean to experience unconditional love? And I hope that that reflection then becomes a question about what if God really loves me that way? What am I gonna do about that?
