Anticipate the Resurrection·27 of 29

The Tomb Is Empty

Mary Magdalene rushes into a room full of disciples. She tells the men the stone has been rolled away. And that when she and the others went into the tomb, the body was gone. Joanna speaks of the angels. She says there were two shining men. And they told the women not to look for the living among the dead. Peter rushes away and to the tomb. He runs in and walks right to the rocky shelf. But there's no body. There's only the linen. He kneels and takes it in his hands. He shuffles it, looking through it. But after a moment he stops. He sighs and bows his head.

Luke 24:8-12

Then they remembered His words. And when they returned from the tomb, they reported all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them who told this to the apostles. But their words seemed like nonsense to them, and they did not believe the women. Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. And after bending down and seeing only the linen cloths, he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.
