Have you ever wondered if Christians believe in one god or three?
God is almighty.
The totality of His power and existence is beyond human comprehension.
Creator of everything, He can choose to do anything He wants,
yet He chooses to make himself known to us and reveal his nature.
The Holy scriptures say, “The Lord our God, The Lord is one.”
His holy nature is a mystery,
but scripture reveals enough about God’s nature
that we can begin to understand it.
Let’s try to make sense of it this way…
picture a ring.
One shape, one object:
the perfect circle with no beginning or end.
Now imagine this ring is made of three interlaced strands.
It’s still one ring, but it has three beautiful parts;
connected yet distinct.
This ring can give us an idea of the Almighty’s nature
with each braid representing a person of God.
The first person of God reveals Himself as the Almighty Father:
Creator of all things visible and invisible.
He sits atop the Heavenly throne.
The second person of God reveals Himself as Jesus.
He is the image of God in human flesh,
given the title “Son of God.”
The Bible says, “God has spoken to us by his Son…
the radiance of God’s glory
and the exact representation of His being.”
God came earth as Jesus to save humanity
and communicate His will to people.
The third person of God reveals Himself as the Spirit.
“The Helper.”
Jesus said “I will ask the Father,
and He will give you another advocate to help you
and be with you forever—
the Spirit of truth...
He lives with you and will be in you.”
The Spirit helps us to know God and understand Him.
The God of the Bible is one Almighty God.
And His existence in perfect harmony between three persons
helps us understand the richness of His being
and magnifies just how different God is from people.
As one Holy being, He chooses to reveal Himself
and invite us into a relationship with Him.
