(dramatic music) I can't believe he's dead. Let's go around to the side. I think there's a ramp there. (group murmuring) It just looks like he's asleep. Cody, come on, let's get something to eat. I'm not hungry. Here you go, Cody. You need to eat. Mom? Mom! (plate rattling) (somber music) I have a secret. All my life, I've had had questions about my faith, about God, and about religion. But now I'm gonna tell you my secrets, my struggles, my doubts. I hope you can handle the truth. Ready? I can't believe that happened. What's this? Just something I wanted to remember him by. I wouldn't tell anybody about what you saw today. Why not? It's just better that way. Miracle, it's a word people use to describe everything from sauce you put on sandwiches to babies that have survived premature birth. I'm not even sure I really understand it. The craziest one is that Jesus rose from the dead. If that's true, what does it mean for me? What does it mean for all of us? I mean, the people who witnessed his death and saw him after the resurrection were so convinced that they were literally willing to die on that hill. They were beheaded, sawn in two, skinned alive. Who would go through with that unless they were absolutely certain of what they saw? I mean, one person could hallucinate it, but hundreds of people, the same hallucination? The history and the numbers don't lie. (tranquil music) (birds chirping) Mom? Dad? Dad? Trampoline. (electronic music) Cody? Cody? Look at this. I can't believe it. This is awesome. [Cody] This is awesome. Jesus' resurrection wasn't the only thing. He healed people, walked on water, he even raised a man from the dead. But why all the spectacle? He said the miracles were to prove his identity as God. He was like, 'Hey, you don't believe me? Here's proof.' No, thanks. I'm not 21. It wasn't just the visible, dramatic water-to-wine stuff that made him different either. The miracles he did caught people's attention, sure, but his treatment of people was just as radical. Jesus shocked his fellow Jews by challenging racial and cultural boundaries. For instance, Jews and Samaritans were sworn enemies, and yet Jesus spoke to a Samaritan woman at a well who had a bad reputation and made many mistakes in her life, a scenario that would've been unthinkable to its original hearers. But Jesus wasn't worried about superficial rules. He loved all kinds of people, even the ones the world pushed aside, regardless of social status or reputation. Excuse me, sir, ma'am. Who are you? Sir, ma'am, we're gonna need to ask you a few questions. I'm sorry, who are you? Tell us about the body. Did it disappear? What body? How long has your son been crippled, sir? Excuse me? Crippled? Mm-hmm. Why do you keep saying my son is crippled? (man snapping) Stay with me, sir. How long has your son been crippled? Where does this power come from? Wait. Why, Jesus? Everything about God's rescue plan seems weird. The God who created us became one of us to suffer and die for us? (dramatic music)
