Do I Have Purpose?

When we make certain tools multi-purpose, it can sometimes be effective for a while. But over time, we'll sadly find that certain tools can't fulfill certain purposes. Sometimes we need one specific tool. Similarly, at some point in life, every one of us asks, "Why am I here?" "What's my ultimate purpose in life?" And, like using a flashlight for all sorts of things, we often try to find our own purpose. We embark on a quest, to answer that exact question: "Why am I here?" Some common answers might be; to be happy, to help people, to find love, or to work hard and be successful. But here's the problem. While none of those things are inherently wrong, sooner or later we find that these things don't fulfill us in the way we were hoping. And when this happens, we either look for something else, or give up on the idea of a purpose-filled life. All of this can leave us frustrated and unfulfilled, and usually exhausted. But here's some good news: The Bible says that we are fearfully and wonderfully made by God, and He has a specific purpose in mind for us. He created us with a desire to be in relationship, and as we get to know Him better, we learn more about His purpose for us. The truth is, we can't go it alone. We need to know God, in order to know why we were made. And thankfully, He is gracious enough to make a way for us to come to Him, and find the purpose and peace we've always been seeking. So come on, traveler. Don't be so down. We can find our purpose.
