9. Prayer
Jesus modeled a simple example of this in what’s called “the Lord’s Prayer,” in Matthew 6:9-13. This prayer was an answer to one of his friends asking how to pray.

How do we develop a relationship with the God of the universe?
Relationships are based on our ability to speak with each other,
and prayer is our way of having a heartfelt conversation with God.
Jesus says that when we freely talk to Him and seek Him with our hearts,
He will respond to us through the Holy Spirit He puts inside us to communicate to our hearts.
Then, as we pray to Him, we can feel when our hearts give Him joy or sense when we have grieved Him,
because His heart's desire is for us to experience a real, intimate relationship with Him
so that we can live in the goodness and freedom that He offers us day after day.
Without prayer, we grow distant from Him.
Yet as we grow closer to Jesus by speaking with Him, we grow to love Him more.
And the more we love Him,
the more we grow to love what He loves
and to reject what harms our relationship.
