[ Just An Outside Shot ]
You okay?
What do you think?
I think you need to change
and get out of here before they lock up the building
I'll be fine
Well ...
... suit yourself
Alright, Sam
... talk ...
I'm just sick of losing, man
But we're so good at it.
And it's not just football, Mike,
I feel like I'm losing it ...
everything.
What?
Is your knee still bothering you?
Yeah, but just barely though.
Good.
Hey Mike, ...
what happened to you?
I'm sorry, man, I just missed a couple of passes ...
No, no, I mean what happened ...
... to you?
You were always big-headed, Mike.
Fun,
arrogant, annoying, loud!
Mike,
but now, I don't know, it's like you're ...
more Mike, less obnoxious.
Sorry, I don't ...
No, no.
Whatever you're doing, I want it too.
What do you mean?
Old Mike wouldn't have done this ...
like sat down and talked to me like this.
It's like you're this guy that everyone respects.
Umm, let's just say, I've been working on something.
But it's ...
But what?
Okay, it's more like something's been working on me.
Okay ...
You see, like the outside shot we keep working on during training
Yeah, what about it?
We're always trying to get that impossible shot.
And sometimes in practice, it happens.
Yeah, for you maybe.
But then, during the actual game,
with everyone cheering, and the other team sprinting towards me,
I just couldn't do it.
I wasn't good enough.
Everytime I tried, I'd cost us the game.
That pretty much sums up my life.
Mine too.
I was acting like I was great on the outside, but
in between soccer, school, and mom being sick,
I just felt like the world was crushing me in a vise.
So what changed?
I stopped trying to make the shot I was not going to make on my own.
I asked someone else to help me.
Wait. Who? Edi?
No, man.
Jesus.
Seriously?
Yeah. I became a Christian.
Right ...
Seriously.
And that’s what fixed everything?
No, it fixed the one thing I knew I couldn’t fix,
the ultimate outside shot.
No matter how hard I tried,
I just couldn’t finish a game without getting a red card.
That's because you didn’t follow the rules.
That’s how we do it.
No matter how hard we try, we keep making mistakes,
hurting people, screwing things up.
I didn’t want to keep getting ejected.
Wait, so you’re perfect now?
I don’t have to be perfect. Not anymore.
That’s the weight that’s been lifted.
Jesus came and died for our mistakes,
the red cards of life.
You don’t have to do it on your own.
Just ask Jesus to forgive you,
to take you in, to change your life,
I asked Jesus to come into my life, and take away my sins,
and ... He did.
Does this make any sense at all?
Yeah, kind of.
OK, no.
What are you doing?
Drawing the perfect play!
This is you,
and this is the end goal.
Heaven. Life after death.
We all sin, make mistakes. Right?
Yeah, I guess.
Well, I do at least.
Okay, well, so?
So God doesn’t;
so to be with him we have to be perfect.
But for some crazy reason he loves you.
Well, that’s nice of him.
I’m serious.
He loves you Sam.
And he wants you to come home.
And again, all you have to do is to be perfect.
It's a little late for that.
Right?! Yeah?!
It’s like kicking the ball across the biggest valley
and expecting to make a goal with just one shot.
Um...
You can’t do it. I can’t do it.
Nobody ever can do it!
So, how?
God did it for us!
God sent Jesus, God in His flesh,
His son, to come and die for us,
and cleanse us of our mistakes.
And, now there’s no gap.
All you have to do is to walk across.
And there is no way you can miss.
So, all I have to do is walk across?
Yeah!
I want that!
Let’s get out of here before they lock us in,
and we'll grab some food and we can talk more about this.
Yeah, sounds good.
