Riyakâr ve Vergi Tahsildarı Hikayesi
İsa Ginnesar gölünün kıyısında bir tekneden öğretiş vermektedir. Benzetmelerle tapınağa dua etmeye giden bir Ferisinin ve bir vergi görevlisinin örneğini vermektedir. İki adam da tapınakta dua ederler. Ferisi gururla özelliklerini sayar. Tanrı’ya açgözlü, sahtekar veya zina yapan diğerleri gibi olmadığı için şükranlarını sunar. Vergi görevlisini özellikle belirtir ve onun gibi olmadığı için Tanrı’ya şükranlarını sunar. Ferisi cesurca Tanrı'ya ne yaptığını anlatır: haftada iki gün oruç tutmakta ve gelirinin onda birini vermektedir. Vergi tahsildarı sunağa mesafeli durur. Başı eğiktir ve göğsüne vurmaktadır. Tek duası "Tanrım, bana, bu günahkara merhamet et!"tir.
