For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, yet lose or forfeit his very self? If anyone is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels. But I tell you truly, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God.”

Chi vuol venire con me?
Io ti seguirò, maestro.
Ma prima
vorrei andare a casa a salutare la mia famiglia.
Chi metta mano all'aratro e poi guardi indietro non è adatto per il regno di Dio.
Chi vuole venire con me deve rinunziare a se stesso
prendere la sua croce e seguire me.
Chi pensa solo a salvare la sua vita, la perderà.
Chi invece è pronto a sacrificare la sua vita per me, la salverà.
Che giova, infatti, all'uomo guadagnare il mondo intero
se perde poi l'anima sua?
Il Figlio dell'uomo quando verrà nella sua gloria
e nella gloria di Dio Padre e degli angeli, si vergognerà
di chi si è vergognato di me e delle mie parole.
In verità vi dico:
Qui qualcuno non morirà prima di aver visto il regno di Dio.
