Yesus dibawa menghadap Pilatus untuk diadili oleh Imam Besar Yahudi. Yesus memberi tahu Pilatus bahwa Kerajaan-Nya bukan dari dunia ini. Pilatus tidak menemukan kesalahan dalam Yesus dan mengusulkan untuk mengikuti kebiasaan Yahudi dan membebaskan satu orang pada hari Paskah. Mereka menuntut untuk membebaskan Barabas.
