What is salvation?

What is "Salvation"? The Fall, sin, shame, pain, separation... Such is the state of spiritual death. God longs for us to be with Him, but spiritual death separates us from Him. God is holy to the highest degree. God is inside and we are stuck outside, unable to help ourselves. God loves us, and has done everything to bring us back to Him. He even gave His only Son, Jesus, as our substitute for the punishment of our sins and as the perfect offering. Jesus did not remain in the tomb. He overcame death and sin, was resurrected, and returned to God in glory. God has created a Way for us to be with Him. God is kind and patient, so He does not force us to be with Him. God calls us individually near, by circumstances, experiences, and people through whom we see the way to reunite with Him, like entering through a door. That's why Jesus refers Himself as the door. Entry to God through Jesus is a free gift that we may accept or reject. In the Bible, accepting this gift is called "believing" and "trusting" in Jesus Christ. If you receive the gift, you will not be left outside, but will be invited in to be with God. Changed from an outsider to one who is welcomed in like a lost child returning home. "Salvation" is reuniting with the God who created you with a purpose. It's a big step that will change you forever. Ask, and it shall be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened unto you.
