China

The greatest gospel gap in the world is in 50 countries—these countries have barely any new, thriving churches. And nearly 75% of all the world’s unreached people (3.6 billion) live in 12 of those 50 countries. The people in these 12 countries have the least access to the gospel in their own language.

We can engage in strategic, focused prayer for the 12 countries of the world that are least reached with the gospel without ever leaving home.

Every month in 2026 we’ll feature one of these countries, familiarize you with its culture and share prayer requests addressing the country’s specific needs. We believe the light of Jesus can shine through!

All About China

Imagine standing in awe of the Terracotta Army in Xi’an, or gazing at the star-filled sky of the Gobi Desert. Think of the simple pleasure of enjoying traditional dumplings or watching a panda eat bamboo. China is a treasure trove of wonders and cultural depth.

The Great Wall of China is actually a network of walls and fortifications built by various dynasties. Its total length, including all its branches, stretches over 13,048 miles (21,000 kilometers).

China is home to around 300 species of bamboo, which make up about one third of the world’s total bamboo species. Bamboo is not just a plant in China; it’s a cultural symbol of resilience and strength.

Tea, one of the world’s most popular beverages, originated in China. The Chinese have been cultivating tea for over 5,000 years, and legends attribute its discovery to the mythical Emperor Shennong.

The Terracotta Army, buried with the first Emperor of China Qin Shi Huang, consists of around 8,000 clay soldiers, 130 chariots with 520 horses, and 150 cavalry horses. No two soldiers are alike, and each has unique facial features.

The invention of paper is credited to Cai Lun in China during the Eastern Han period in 105 AD. However, archaeological findings suggest that paper might have been made earlier in China around the second century BC.

Pray With Us

Pray for churches in China to flourish according to God’s will in spite of setbacks. Pray for believers across the nation to build strong community bonds with one another.

China is home to hundreds of different ethnic groups. Pray for these different ethnic groups to foster good relationships with one another, showing a willingness to resolve conflicts. Pray that God will raise churches and Christians to be peacemakers and bring reconciliation.

Pray for Chinese people to look to the Lord in the midst of the challenges they face. May they discover the beautiful promise of Jesus in Matthew 11:28-30:

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” (NIV).
