What Are the Names and Titles of Jesus?

The Bible pays particular attention to names. Throughout Scripture, you discover that names hold significant value and meaning. They tell us something specific about someone’s character. We see this when God changes the name of that swindler, Jacob to Israel (one who contends with God). And in the New Testament, we see it when Jesus changes Simon’s name to Peter, meaning “rock.”

The name of Jesus is significant. Peter said as much to the Sanhedrin when he testified, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

But what about the other names and titles the biblical writers used to express the many facets and roles Jesus plays in our universe? Those are important, too. By looking closely at the labels used throughout the Bible to describe Jesus, we can discover a new appreciation for the ways Jesus ministers to us.

We compiled 50 names and titles for Jesus and the Scriptures where those names are found.
