The greatest gospel gap in the world is in 50 countries—these countries have barely any new, thriving churches. And nearly 75% of all the world’s unreached people (3.6 billion) live in 12 of those 50 countries. The people in these 12 countries have the least access to the gospel in their own language.

We can engage in strategic, focused prayer for the 12 countries of the world that are least reached with the gospel without ever leaving home.

Every month in 2026 we’ll feature one of these countries, familiarize you with its culture and share prayer requests addressing the country’s specific needs. We believe the light of Jesus can shine through!

All About Egypt

Egypt holds a significant place in Christian history. It’s the land where Joseph, Mary and Jesus sought refuge, as recorded in Matthew 2:13-15. Matthew gave new understanding to these words from Hosea 11:1, “When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called My son” (New International Version).

In the Old Testament, the prophet Hosea referred to Israel’s deliverance from Egypt, and in the New Testament, Matthew tied it to the return of Jesus, the Messiah, from Egypt.

Egyptians had one of the earliest medical systems in history, with evidence of surgery, bone setting and dental care. The Edwin Smith Papyrus is one of the oldest medical documents, detailing surgical treatments from around 1600 B.C.

The Suez Canal is a crucial waterway in Egypt that connects the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea. This engineering marvel opened in 1869, and greatly reduced travel time between Europe and Asia.

Egyptian hieroglyphs were one of the earliest writing systems, using symbols to represent words, sounds and letters. Their meaning remained a mystery until the 19th century, when scholars used the Rosetta Stone to decode the language.

The Rosetta Stone: Discovered in 1799, this stone became the key to understanding ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs due to inscriptions in Greek, Demotic and Hieroglyphic.

Egyptians created the first synthetic pigment, Egyptian blue, as early as 2500 B.C. They used it in art and decoration, making its vibrant color through a complex chemical process.

Ask God to bless Egyptians with media and tools they can use to talk about Jesus. May God help the people use these things efficiently so that every person in Egypt can hear the gospel in a way that draws them in and speaks the language of their hearts.

Pray for those ministering to the poor—that by serving in practical ways they may also have opportunities to share the message of the gospel.
