イエス、ピラトの前に引き出される
神殿の監視員がイエスを殴ります。ひとりの男が、イエスを議会に連れてくる様、監視員に指示します。 アンナスとカヤパが入って来ます。部屋は大勢のユダヤ人の男たちであふれています。彼らはイエスがメシアであるかどうかを調べます。イエスは、議会は決して信じないでしょう、とだけ返事します。そしてイエスは、人の子は神の右に座すであろう、と語りました。 彼らは、イエスは神の子の子であるかと質問し、イエスは、人々はそう言っていると答えます。 彼らはその答えがどんな意味かわかりせん。その中の一人が証人として立ちます。全員がイエスの回答を聞きました。議会は、イエスをピラトの元に連れて行くことに決めます。 ローマの兵隊が門を開けイエスを連れて行きます。 群衆が後を追い、イエスは神殿の中庭へ連れ出されます。皇帝ピラトが登場します。彼は、何千人をも十字架で処刑したローマで一番残忍と知られた支配者です。 ピラトは群衆が何を要求しているのか教えるように言います。ユダヤの群衆は、イエスは人々を混乱させ、神殿の市場を荒らしていると叫びます。イエスに罰を下すようピラトに要求します。 ピラトはイエスに、おまえはユダヤ人の王であるかと聞きます。イエスは、「あなたの言う通りです。」とだけ返答します。

And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this man subverting our nation, forbidding payment of taxes to Caesar, and proclaiming Himself to be Christ, a King.” So Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” “You have said so,” Jesus replied. Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, “I find no basis for a charge against this man.” But they kept insisting, “He stirs up the people all over Judea with His teaching. He began in Galilee and has come all the way here.” When Pilate heard this, he asked if the man was a Galilean. And learning that Jesus was under Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who himself was in Jerusalem at that time.
