Beatitudes
Jesus looks out over the crowds gathered to hear him speak. But instead of speaking to the masses, Jesus turns back to his disciples. He encourages them for the journey ahead. He assures them that they are blessed when people hate them, reject them, insult them, and say that they are evil because they follow Jesus. He encourages them to be happy and dance for joy when that happens. Because there will be great reward in heaven for them. And He reminds them that their ancestors acted the same way toward prophets.

La wadaagLooking up at His disciples, Jesus said: “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil because of the Son of Man. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For their fathers treated the prophets in the same way.
