Widow's Offering
In the temple, Jesus watches a widow give all that she has. People in the crowd note how little she gives. They ask for her to give more. But Jesus proclaims to everyone that the widow gave more than everyone else. Everyone else who contributed gave out of the extra money they had. But the widow, even in her poverty, gave everything she owned.

De aanhang onder de joden groeide, maar de tegenstand groeide ook.
Jezus confronteerde de huichelaars onder de schriftgeleerden en farizeërs
steeds meer met hun schijnheiligheid. In de tempel zag Jezus een arme weduwe
twee kopermuntjes in de offerkist gooien. Nou dat is wel heel weinig.
Zo,
kun je het missen?
Ik zeg u,
deze arme weduwe heeft meer gegeven dan iedereen hier.
Want al die anderen offeren alleen van hun overvloed.
Maar zij, zo arm als ze is, gaf al het geld waarvan ze moet leven.
