“… he has made every nationality to live over the whole earth and has determined their appointed times and the boundaries of where they live. He did this so that they might seek God, and perhaps they might reach out and find him, though he is not far from each one of us”(Acts 17:26-27, Christian Standard Bible).

Acts tells us God has assigned our time in history and the boundaries of where we live-for a purpose. The purpose? To put each of us in the appropriate geography and time frame for us to seek Him and to live out the purposes of God in our generation, as God said of His friend David.

What a grand and glorious vision for something that may seem random and haphazard at times.
“Why do I live here?”
“Why do I have to be alive at this moment in history?”
These are questions we all have asked.

The answers lie in the character of God-His intentionality in planning our lives applies even to the details of our addresses and birthdays. For me then, the question becomes, “So what? I’m here at this address; I’m alive in 2021-What do I do with this moment?”

I believe with my whole heart that there/s never been a more exciting time to be alive. Here are two reasons why:

Jill Briscoe, a teacher, and evangelist for over 70 years, is famous for saying, “the mission field is in between your own two feet at any one time.” She’s right. As most of us stayed close to home during the pandemic, we found new ways to love our neighbors and our families and roommates. Those who were “seeking God,” as it says in Acts 17, had you and me, close at hand, sometimes for days and days without a break, as ambassadors of a new and better kingdom. God’s given us the global experience of the pandemic to call us in new ways to the people in the places to which He’s assigned us.

But you know what else is “in-between your own two feet at any one time”? Or perhaps it is better to say, “in your hands at any one time?” THE ENTIRE WORLD! Smartphones fling wide the door for us to present the kingdom on a scale never before seen in history.

One quick example: Last week, I was on a Zoom call with 120 people from 7 countries. Their nations were in total lockdown. Most of the participants hadn’t left their homes except to buy groceries for a whole week. Yet in those seven days, they had shared the love of Jesus with 180 people. Just by texting a short Jesus-centered film to a friend, and saying “hey, what do you think of this film?” 135 gospel presentations took place. Ten people told their friends, via text, that they wanted to give their lives to Jesus. All this happened without people leaving home!

God has given us the ability in this historic moment to cross physical and geographical boundaries using technology so that the whole world can truly know the love of Jesus. Click here to learn more about how to use Jesus-centered films to share God’s love with your friends.

What will you do with your moment?
