Jesus called the disciples and gave them the Great Commission:

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:18–20).

When we think about the Great Commission, it’s natural to focus on what Jesus asks them to do. After all, that’s what it means to be commissioned, right? You’re being formally invited to produce or create something.

If we’re not careful, we can miss the context of the Great Commission. Jesus pulled all of the disciples together and charged them with a specific work. This was something they were to do together as this new movement of Jesus followers.

Throughout the Book of Acts, this commission plays out across the fledgling church. Various people played different roles. People like Paul, Barnabas, John Mark, and Luke visited new areas to tell them about Jesus. And many of the disciples stayed in Jerusalem to oversee this growth.

As churches were started, pastors like Timothy were put in place to care for these new believers, reach into local communities and support the ongoing work of missions. All of this work happened synergistically as Jesus’ followers threw themselves into fulfilling Jesus’ commission.

Let’s fulfill the Great Commission together

Since our founding, it’s been our goal at Jesus Film Project® to equip the body of Christ with the films, digital tools and strategies they need to reach people around them with the gospel in their heart language

The JESUS film has been one of the premier tools for sharing the gospel with people worldwide. It’s been translated into a record-breaking 2,000+ languages, leading to more than 600 million decisions to follow Jesus. And we have many more evangelism tools and films available for people looking to build the kingdom of God locally and around the world.

But the work isn’t finished, and we need people like you to join us in taking Jesus’ promise of redemption to the ends of the earth. This includes prayer, serving alongside us and financially supporting the work of reaching the world.

Please watch this video and consider how you can join us in telling the world the story of Jesus.
